Meet Dr Sang Tran (She/Her, They/Them)
BVSc (USyd), MANZCVS (Avian Medicine and Surgery), GradCertOrnith (CSU)
Dr Sang has always been obsessed with birds. From cuddling Muscovy ducks as a child, doing bird surveys for citizen science in their teens, to drawing every native Australian bird species for their high school visual arts major work. During university, Dr Sang completed placements at avian vet clinics all around Australia. After graduating in 2016, they went straight into being a Bird & Exotics Veterinarian.
Over the many years of seeing countless other unusual pets, Dr Sang has warmed up to all things fluffy and scaley, too, although the feathered friends will always hold a special place in their heart.
Hobbies and Interest
Even when not at work, Dr Sang likes to surround themselves with bird nerds – through bird surveys, bird banding, and attending ornithological conferences and local bird club meetings.
As an advocate for Australian wildlife, Dr Sang regularly volunteers at the Sydney Wildlife Rescue Mobile Care Unit.
Other interests include snorkelling and watching Australian TV shows.
Owned Pets
Dr Sang is the pet parent to a small flock, including two cockatiels and six canaries.
