Dr Tara Gatehouse
BVSc (Hons 1), BSc (Marine Science)
Dr Tara is a passionate veterinarian whose journey in the world of animal care started as a kennel hand before starting veterinary school and worked as a vet nurse in mixed practice throughout her studies. She focused on exotic, zoo and wildlife animals and attended placements at Brisbane Bird and Exotics, Sea World and Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.
Tara graduated with her veterinary science degree in 2019 and spent six months in general practice, seeing the bulk of the exotic pets and wildlife presented to the clinic. She then started a Wildlife Veterinary Internship at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital on the Gold Coast and went on to become a full-time staff member attending to both captive and wildlife species. In addition, Dr Tara commenced work at Dreamworld as the main veterinarian for the captive collection.
In January of 2023, Tara made a heartfelt decision to relocate to Western Australia, drawing closer to her family and joining the UPV Murdoch team.
