Practice Manager Karen

Practice Manager Karen

Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing, Cert IV in Nursing (Endorsed Enrolled Nurse)

Hailing from the serene landscapes of country NSW, Karen’s affinity for animals ignited from a young age, and she knew that her future would involve working with animals. Karen was fortunate to attend school work experience at Taronga Zoo, gaining knowledge and working alongside the seal and penguin keepers.

Embarking on her professional journey, Karen’s dedication to animal care led her to earn her Certificate in Vet Nursing. Her first chapter unfolded at a mixed practice, where she nursed companion and farm animals. Her unique highlight was tending to an African Eland at a nearby zoo.

After a brief period as a “human” nurse, Karen soon returned to patients of the fur and feathered kind. Over the past 16 years, Karen’s expertise and knowledge evolved, moving through the ranks of Senior Nurse, Head Nurse and Practice Manager.

Only in the past four years has Karen had the opportunity to nurse exotic pets, unveiling a newfound love for unusual and extraordinary pets.

Hobbies and Interests

Beyond her professional pursuits, Karen finds strength and joy in CrossFit and weightlifting. She also enjoys caravanning, crafting and spending time with her children and husband.

Owned Pets

In her domestic haven, Karen plays the role of a doting pet parent to Elliot, who runs the show.

Cannot speak highly enough of the caring and lovely staff at UPV Osborne Park. Particularly to Dr Kelly for the wonderful treatment and compassion she displayed caring for my much loved Bugz. Definitely recommend this practice. Simply the Best.

Excellent service, caring and professional advice, and very good handling for our pet bird, on our first visit today at The Unusual Pet Vets, Jindalee. Very helpful, and they also provided further reading for us via email after our appointment regarding a few things we asked about. All staff were lovely and friendly – from the initial phone booking (you can do internet bookings too) to and including the consult. Thank you very much – we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend.
